Invited talk:(1) Research in Modeling and Prediction - Research fields at Institute of Structural Analysis TU-Dresden; (2) Advanced Computational and Civil Engineering Structural Studies at TU-Dresden
Prof. Dr. -Ing. Michael Kaliske is Director of the Institute for Structural Analysis at Technical University Dresden. He graduated in Computational Mechanics (1989) from University of Wales, Swansea (Great Britain) and in Civil Engineering (1991) from University of Hannover (Germany). Re search work in the field of continuum mechanics and numerical mechanics led to the PhD (1995) and the Habilitation (1999). At the tire manufacturer Continental AG, he was responsible for the department of mechanics and simulation development (1999-2002). From 2002 to 2008, he was Director of the Institute of Structural Mechanics at University Leipzig and, since 2006, he is Professor for Structural Analysis at Technical University Dresden. His main fields of interest are continuum mechanics and material modelling, development of finite element methods and numerical approaches, general uncertainty models and, in general, structural analysis on a research basis as well as in the field of industrial application.
