报告简介 (Outline) :
If ductile RC structures are concerned, we can evaluate with enough accuracy their seismic performance by conventional methods such as pushover analysis and nonlinear time history analysis. But, if brittle RC structures are concerned, even if we use these methods, we can not expect to get reliable results. For post-peak behavior of old columns is not well known. Under such a situation, it was intended to experimentally examine post-peak behavior of old columns until gravity load collapse. This seminar discusses the seismic Performance  evaluation of existing RC buildings considering column collapse based on the test results.

报告人简介 (About the Speaker) :
Dr. Yoshimura studied at the graduate school of engineering, the university of Tokyo, and obtained a doctoral degree in 1979. He   then joined the Building Research Institute, Ministry of Construction, Japan, where he was privileged to participate in the "Full-Scale Seven-Story RC Building Test" as a part of the US-Japan cooperative research project. In 1988 he was appointed as a faculty member of Tokyo Metropolitan University, where  he presently holds the position of professor. His special interest at present is the story collapse of buildings. His research goal is to establish a rational earthquake resistant design methodology including a proper method to strengthen old buildings.
