Rzeszów University of Technology is a state-run institution of higher education in Rzeszów, beginning as a vocational school of engineering on the initiative of employees of the airplane factory PZL WS-2 (branch of PZL State Aviation Works) in 1951. It developed into a full-fledged university gradually between 1952 and 1974. Since 1976, it has operated the leading Aviation Training Centre on the outskirts of Rzeszow. The university is the only polytechnic in the country that awards degrees to civil aviation pilots

Professor Aleksander Kozłowski is the vice-dean of The Faculty of Civil & Environmental Engineering, Rzeszów University of Technology, Poland. He is the member of European research projects COST: C1, C12, C16, C25, C26, TU 0601, TU 0701, and International Network for Steels Structures created by ArcelorMittal. He has authored over 200 publications. His main scientific fields cover semi-rigid joints and connections in steel and composite structures: experimental tests, analytical modeling, and advanced modeling of steel and composite frames with semi-rigid joints, robustness of steel framed structures.
