报告简介 (Outline) :
Damage reported in 10- to 20- story reinforced concrete (RC) moment frame structures during recent earthquakes around the world suggests potential vulnerability of these systems and warrants an investigation to better understand the current design requirements. This seminar will present the results from two different studies of seismic response of tall RC moment frames. The first study numerically explores the nonlinear response of 20-story frames conforming to the current U.S. code provisions and subjected to two levels of ground motion intensity. The second study involves full-scale laboratory test of two large reinforced concrete beams representative of those used in tall special moment frame construction.
报告人简介 (About the Speaker) :
Ms. Tea Višnjić is a doctoral student at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of California - Berkeley, where she also obtained a Master of Science in Civil Engineering in 2008. The focus of her research is both the numerical and experimental investigation of seismic response of reinforced concrete structures, with an emphasis on moment resisting frames. Prior to pursuing graduate studies, Ms. Višnjić worked as a bridge engineer from 2004 – 2007. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. She is working with Prof. Ying Zhou on damped reinforced concrete buildings for eight weeks, supported by EAPSI program of US National Science Foundation.
