报告简介 (Outline) :
Seismic loss of a portfolio of buildings for scenario events is affected by spatial correlation and coherency of ground motions.  In this presentation, we elaborate our methodology to estimate seismic risk of a portfolio of buildings using ground motion prediction equation with spatially correlated inter-event and intra-event residuals and empirical ductility demand rules.  For a further refinement, we then present a newly developed approach to generate spatially correlated and coherent ground motion records for scenario events; we apply the synthetic records to assess the statistics of the seismic loss of a building stock for a scenario event.

报告人简介 (About the Speaker) :
Dr. H.P. Hong received his B.Eng , M.Eng. And Dr. Eng in1984, 1984 and 1988, respectively, from the National Autonomous University of Mexico, Mexico.  Before he joined the Dept. of Civil & Environmental Eng. at UWO in 1996, he gained several years industrial research experience.   His research interests include the application of probabilistic method in civil engineering.  He authored/co-authored more than 100 papers in peer reviewed journals.  He is a corresponding member of the Mexican Academy of Engineering.  He serves as a member in several Canadian design code committees, and as a member of the editorial board in several journals, including Structural Safety.
