The Scaled Boundary Finite Element Approach

报告内容(Abstract):
In this talk, a novel approach for the efficient automation of numerical modeling processes directly from CAD
models and digital images will be presented.A general n-sided-polygon element based on the concept of the scaled
boundary finite element method, will be introduced. Its performance will be demonstrated with examples of
fracture analyses (static, dynamic, elasto-plastic, functionally graded materials and crack propagation).This n-sidedpolygon element combines ideally with a quad tree mesh for the automation of the numerical modeling
process from CAD models and digital images. The accuracy, efficiency and robustness of the proposed technique
are demonstrated with numerical examples. Potential research and applications of this novel technique in structural
and material modeling will be discussed.
宋崇民教授简介:
Dr. Chongmin Song is a Professor at the School of Civil & Environmental Engineering, University of New
South Wales,Australia. He obtained the degree of Bachelor of Engineering from Tsinghua University,
China and the degree of Doctor of Engineering from the University of Tokyo, Japan. His current research
interests are on the development of advanced numerical methods and their application to structural and
geotechnical engineering. He is one of the two original creators of the scaled boundary finite element
method. He has published more than 80 papers in top-tier archive journals.
