The Research Institute for Sustainable Urban Development (RISUD) and the Faculty of Construction and Environment (FCE) of The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) willjointly host the Second International Conference on Sustainable Urbanization on 7 – 9 January 2015 at the PolyU Campus. This conference series aims to provide a forum for the international scientific/engineering community to examine the challenges brought by massive urbanization and to find effective solutions to ensure a sustainable process of urbanization and sustainable operation and management of urbanized areas.

The three-day conference programme will include plenary keynote presentations and five distinct symposia focused on five important themes related to the sustainable development, operation and management of urban areas.  Submissions related to these themes as listed below are invited. All submissions will be peer-reviewed for possible inclusion in the conference programme and the conference proceedings.

·         Emerging Materials and Technologies for Sustainable Infrastructure

·         Sustainable Urban Redevelopment and Rehabilitation

·         Sustainable Water in Cities

·         Urban Data and Urban Computing

·         Energy Saving and Renewable Energy Technologies for Buildings

Authors are given the options of submitting 1) abstracts followed by full papers or 2) abstracts only. Submissions (no more than 2 pages) should be made viahttp://www.polyu.edu.hk/risud/ICSU2015/submissions.html by 1 March 2014 or 1 June 2014 depending on the respective options of submission.
